July 13, 2019 @ 7:20 pm - 7:50 pm

Around Matt’s hometown of Montrose, South Dakota, Matt Fockler is known as a talented and unique builder, specializing in dry-stack stone, mosaic tile, and other projects that require an artist’s touch. Matt’s other art is lesser known, outside of a few people who have been lucky enough to hear him sing around a campfire or in a friend’s kitchen.

With profound meaningful lyrics, his subjects range from the life of Lakota people, to lullabies and dreams. Matt says that between kindergarten and high school, people tend to let go of the things that make them happy. He feels that dreams are important for the mind and soul.  Fockler’s songs are too good to hide. Without professional recordings or radio play, Matt’s songs made their way to being covered by internationally-touring performers Anais Mitchell, Jonathan Byrd, and Steep Canyon Rangers. The lyrics are plainspoken. The music is uncomplicated. Matt Fockler is the kind of authentic American writer that every folk and Americana fan is looking for.
